Habitat

This species inhabits coastal marine environments, including rocky reefs, coral areas, and sandy bottoms in the Indian Ocean and around Australia. It prefers depths from 5 to 50 meters, often found near structures that provide shelter and hunting opportunities.

Diet

Western pigfish primarily feed on small crustaceans, mollusks, and worms found on the reef. They forage actively during the day, using their pointed snout to probe crevices for prey.

Behavior
