Overview

The smallest bush duiker, with the smallest horns and relatively small ears. The general color is gray with a yellowish or yellowish orange tinge, faintly speckled with black or brown. The dark nose stripe extends to the forehead.

Habitat

Bush and savanna woodland. Distribution- From Senegal eastward through West Africa to southern Chad, the Central African Republic, and the northern edge of Congo (K) adjacent to the Central African Republic.

Diet

This animal prefers to graze but will browse and is generally adaptable.

Behavior

Solitary and nocturnal, concealing itself in a protected place during the day.

Hunting

Often taken as a chance occurance while pursuing other game. A shotgun or a large caliber solid bullet is preferred. The large caliber solid bullet enters and exits the small duiker body without expanding and ruining the meat and hyde.

Conservation Status

Listed as Least Concern by IUCN, referring to the species as a whole.
