Habitat
This species inhabits coastal waters over continental shelves, preferring sandy or muddy bottoms in shallow to moderately deep areas up to about 100 meters. Diet
The Starspotted smooth-hound primarily feeds on benthic invertebrates such as crabs, shrimp, and worms, along with small fish and mollusks. It hunts by foraging along the seafloor, often at night when it is more active. Feeding behavior includes using its pavement-like teeth to crush hard-shelled prey.
Behavior
