Habitat

Silvery marmosets primarily inhabit the tropical rainforests of the Amazon Basin in Brazil, favoring areas with dense canopy cover and access to rivers. They are arboreal, spending most of their time in the mid-to-upper levels of the forest, and avoid open or disturbed areas.

Diet

They feed mainly on fruits, insects, and tree sap, which they extract by gouging bark with their teeth. Silvery marmosets forage in small groups during the day, often spending hours searching for food in the canopy.

Behavior

Silvery marmosets live in family groups of 4 to 15 individuals, with a dominant breeding pair and cooperative care of offspring. They are diurnal, active during the day, and exhibit territorial behaviors like vocal calls to defend their range. These monkeys are agile climbers, often leaping between trees, and communicate through a variety of vocalizations and scent marking.

Conservation Status

The IUCN status is Least Concern, with a stable population trend, though habitat destruction from deforestation poses a significant threat.
