Habitat

Ruddy treeshrews primarily inhabit tropical rainforests and secondary forests in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. They prefer areas with dense undergrowth, tall trees for climbing, and proximity to water sources, avoiding open or highly disturbed areas.

Diet

They feed on a variety of insects such as beetles and ants, as well as fruits, seeds, and occasionally small vertebrates like lizards or bird eggs. Ruddy treeshrews are active foragers during the day, often climbing trees and using their keen senses to locate food.

Behavior

Ruddy treeshrews are diurnal and primarily arboreal, spending most of their time in trees where they forage and rest. They are generally solitary except during mating, exhibit territorial behavior by marking areas with scent glands, and communicate through vocalizations and scent marking.

Conservation Status

The IUCN status is Least Concern, with a stable population trend, though habitat loss due to deforestation poses a potential threat.
