Overview
The rosy-billed pochard is a duck with a distinctive red bill on males and a slate-colored bill on females. The species name peposaca is derived from a Guaraní word for showy wings, referring to the broad white stripe that is only visible with stretched out wings.

Hunting
Typically hunted with a 12 ga shotgun. Shot size #2-4 is sufficient. Effectively hunted with decoys and calling. Dogs are used for bird retrieval. Steel shot is required for waterfowl in the United States.
