Habitat

This species primarily inhabits rainforests and wet sclerophyll forests in northeastern Queensland, Australia. They prefer areas with dense canopy cover for shelter and movement, typically at elevations from sea level to 1,600 meters.

Diet

The Reclusive ringtail possum mainly feeds on leaves, fruits, and flowers from eucalyptus and other trees. It is primarily folivorous but also consumes nectar and occasionally insects, with feeding occurring nocturnally in the treetops.

Behavior

These possums are solitary and nocturnal, spending days hidden in tree hollows or dense foliage. They are highly arboreal, using their prehensile tails for climbing and balancing, and exhibit territorial behavior through scent marking to defend their home ranges.
