Habitat

This species primarily inhabits tropical rainforests in the western Amazon Basin of Brazil, especially in areas near rivers and flooded forests. They prefer dense, lowland vegetation for cover and foraging, avoiding open areas due to their arboreal nature.

Diet

Prince Bernhard's titi mainly consumes fruits, leaves, and insects, with a preference for ripe fruits found in the forest canopy. They forage during the day in pairs or family groups, often leaping between branches, and supplement their diet with nectar and small invertebrates.

Behavior

These monkeys are monogamous, forming lifelong pairs and living in small family groups of up to five individuals. They are diurnal, active during the day, and exhibit territorial behavior through vocal duets and scent marking. Notable behaviors include mutual grooming and agile leaping through trees to evade threats.

Conservation Status

The IUCN status of Prince Bernhard's titi is Endangered, with populations declining due to habitat loss from deforestation and agriculture. Major threats include fragmentation of their rainforest habitat and hunting pressure in some areas.
