Habitat

This species inhabits freshwater rivers and streams in South America, particularly the La Plata and Blanco River basins in Uruguay. It prefers areas with moderate currents, sandy or muddy substrates, and abundant vegetation or debris for cover.

Diet

Luciopimelodus pati primarily feeds on small aquatic insects, crustaceans, and occasionally small fish or plant matter. It is a nocturnal forager, using its barbels to detect prey along the river bottom during evening and night hours.
