Diet

The Panama slender opossum mainly eats insects, spiders, and other invertebrates, which it hunts using its sharp senses. It occasionally consumes small fruits, nectar, or vertebrates like lizards. Feeding is primarily nocturnal, allowing it to forage safely under the cover of darkness.

Behavior

This opossum is nocturnal and solitary, emerging at night to forage and avoid predators. It exhibits arboreal behavior, using its tail for balance while navigating trees, and is generally non-territorial but may use scent marking. They are agile climbers and tend to flee rather than fight when threatened.

Conservation Status

The IUCN Red List classifies Marmosops invictus as Data Deficient due to insufficient information on its population status. Major threats include habitat loss from deforestation and potential impacts from climate change.
