Habitat
This species primarily inhabits montane forests and bamboo thickets in the highlands of northern Myanmar and southern China. It prefers areas with dense vegetation and elevation above 1,500 meters, where it can climb trees and forage in the undergrowth.
Diet
The Northern smooth-tailed treeshrew feeds mainly on insects such as beetles and ants, as well as fruits and seeds. It forages during the day, often in trees or on the ground, using its keen senses to locate food items.
Behavior
These treeshrews are diurnal and primarily arboreal, spending much of their time climbing trees and foraging alone. They exhibit solitary behavior except during mating, are territorial and mark areas with scent glands, and communicate through vocalizations and scent marking.
Conservation Status
The IUCN status is Least Concern, with a stable population trend, though habitat loss due to deforestation poses a potential threat.
