Habitat
This species inhabits the eastern rainforests of Madagascar, preferring moist, lowland forests with dense undergrowth and leaf litter. It is often found in areas with abundant invertebrates, avoiding open or dry regions.
Diet
Nasolo's shrew tenrec primarily eats insects such as beetles, ants, and earthworms, along with other small invertebrates. It forages nocturnally on the forest floor, using its snout to probe for prey in soil and leaf litter.
Behavior
Nasolo's shrew tenrec is solitary and nocturnal, spending its days hidden in burrows or under logs to avoid predators. It exhibits territorial behavior, marking areas with scent and being agile in its movements through dense vegetation. They are generally quiet but may vocalize softly during mating or threats.
Conservation Status
IUCN status is Data Deficient due to limited research, but habitat loss from deforestation poses a potential threat to its population.
