Habitat
Mexican Barracuda are a marine, pelagic species found from Baja, Mexico to Ecuador.
Diet
Mexican barracudas primarily feed on smaller fish such as sardines, anchovies, and mullets. They are ambush predators that hunt during the day in schools or alone, using quick bursts of speed to catch prey. They occasionally eat squid and crustaceans.
Behavior
Mexican barracudas are often solitary but can form loose schools, especially when hunting. They are diurnal predators that patrol coastal waters and reefs, exhibiting aggressive and territorial behavior when defending feeding areas. They are known for their fast swims and sudden strikes on prey.
Fishing
Like most species of barracuda, Mexican barracuda are voracious predators that feed on other small fishes and are also very popular with recreational anglers
Conservation Status
Listed as Least Concern by IUCN.
