Habitat
Low's squirrel inhabits tropical rainforests and montane forests in Borneo, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It prefers dense vegetation from lowland areas up to elevations of about 1,500 meters, where it lives primarily in trees.
Diet
Low's squirrel feeds on a variety of fruits, nuts, seeds, and insects, often foraging in the canopy. It is active during the day and uses its sharp incisors to gnaw on hard-shelled foods, helping to disperse seeds in its habitat.
Behavior
Low's squirrel is diurnal and arboreal, spending most of its time climbing and leaping between trees. It is generally solitary or found in pairs, exhibits territorial behavior by marking trees with scent, and communicates through vocalizations and tail flicking.
Conservation Status
Low's squirrel is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, with a stable population trend, though habitat loss from deforestation poses a major threat.
