Habitat

This species inhabits coastal waters of the Eastern Pacific, including bays, estuaries, and open ocean areas over sandy or rocky substrates. They prefer warm, tropical and subtropical environments, typically from the surface down to about 50 meters depth.

Diet

Longjaw leatherjacks primarily feed on small fish, shrimp, and other crustaceans, often hunting in schools. They are active daytime predators that chase down prey in open water.

Behavior

Longjaw leatherjacks are schooling fish that form tight groups for protection and feeding, remaining active during the day and resting at night.
