Habitat
Hawk's sportive lemur primarily inhabits dry deciduous forests and spiny bush in western Madagascar. They prefer areas with dense vegetation and tree cover for shelter, typically at elevations below 500 meters.
Diet
This species mainly consumes leaves, fruits, and flowers, with a preference for the foliage of tamarind and other native trees. They feed nocturnally, spending several hours each night foraging in the canopy to avoid predators.
Behavior
Hawk's sportive lemur is solitary and nocturnal, emerging at dusk to forage and rest in tree hollows during the day. They exhibit territorial behavior, marking their ranges with scent and vocalizations, and are generally quiet unless threatened.
Conservation Status
The IUCN status is Endangered, with population trends declining due to habitat loss from deforestation and agriculture. Major threats include hunting for bushmeat and fragmentation of forest habitats.
