Habitat
Hardhead catfish primarily inhabit shallow coastal waters, bays, estuaries, and sometimes rivers along the western Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. They prefer sandy or muddy bottoms and can tolerate a wide range of salinities, from freshwater to marine environments. This adaptability allows them to thrive in both subtropical and warm temperate regions.

Behavior
Hardhead catfish are mostly nocturnal, actively foraging at night and resting in sheltered areas during the day.
