Habitat

Gnomefish primarily inhabit deep waters over continental shelves in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, at depths ranging from 50 to 600 meters. They prefer rocky or structured bottoms and are often found near the edge of the continental shelf.

Diet

Gnomefish feed mainly on smaller fish, squid, and crustaceans, using their sharp teeth for capturing prey. They are ambush predators that hunt actively during low-light periods like dawn or dusk.

Behavior

Gnomefish are typically solitary or form small loose groups and are pelagic swimmers that migrate seasonally to follow food sources. They exhibit nocturnal activity patterns and can be territorial around feeding areas.
