Habitat

This fish inhabits freshwater rivers and streams in the Amazon basin, preferring areas with moderate current, sandy or rocky substrates, and abundant vegetation. It is commonly found in Brazil, Argentina, and surrounding South American countries, often in both main river channels and tributaries.

Diet
