Habitat
Bering wolffish inhabit cold, deep waters of the North Pacific Ocean, including the Bering Sea, Sea of Okhotsk, and areas around Hokkaido and Greenland, typically at depths of 50 to 1,000 meters over rocky or muddy substrates. They prefer benthic environments with structures for hiding and hunting.
Diet
Bering wolffish primarily feed on hard-shelled invertebrates such as crabs, sea urchins, and mollusks, using their strong jaws to crush prey. They are nocturnal hunters, foraging on the ocean floor during the night and resting in crevices during the day.
Behavior
Bering wolffish are solitary and territorial, often occupying dens or crevices on the seafloor to defend against intruders. They are primarily nocturnal, actively hunting at night and remaining inactive during the day, and may exhibit aggressive displays when threatened.
Conservation Status
Listed as Not Evaluated by IUCN.
